Riu Playacar Review:

This all inclusive resort for singles, couples, and families is not a luxury resort, but it is well reviewed and provides good value. Exchange privileges with the other Riu resorts located next door greatly expand your choice of restaurants, bars, activities and beaches. The resort is located only minutes from the nightlife areas of Playa del Carmen.

The rooms are a little dated and sometimes a little damp. Take a candle or air freshner in case your room smells damp. Riu resorts are infamous for having firm mattresses, but you can request a pillowtop mattress cover from the front desk. Some rooms have king sized beds and others have two double beds that are pushed together or separate. Make sure you know what type of bed situation you want and will get before you arrive.

The staff at the Riu Playacar is similar to most other Riu resorts. They are good in many ways, but can be great with a small tip.
