Iberostar Bavaro Review:
This resort is highly recommended for many reasons. The resort scores well on the main categories of having a friendly staff, clean rooms, a beautiful streatch of beach (Bavaro), a huge pool, and good food. A nice bonus is that you get to greatly expand your access to restaurants, bars, and activities because guests of the Iberostar Bavaro can use the facilities of the Iberostar Dominicana and Punta Cana.
The food is best in the French and Japanese restaurants. The two buffets have a lot of good fresh fruit and veggies along with a wide selection of fish, pork, beef, etc… Hamburgers, pizza, and grilled chicken are the mainstays of the beach and pool grills. Premium liquor is not offered up front but is available. Most people enjoy drinking the “chocolate monkeys” along with other drinks made to order. Presidente beer and other brands are available.
The entertainment staff (“Star Friends”) do a good job of presenting all types of activities both day and night. Beach olympics and water aerobics are popular during the day. The humorous shows and the ability to dance the night away compliment the all inclusive drinks at night.
Lucy’s club is the Kid’s Club which is for children over the age of four. Not known for being spectacular as the kids usually watch tv, bounce on a trampoline, or take part in limited organized activities. Some staff members are great and can really make the week for some kids.
Taking along some walkie talkies is a great idea to keep in touch with each other. The grounds are well groomed with flamingos, pheasants, and other birds roaming around the property. There are plenty of beach and pool chairs available so you don’t have to worry about getting up early to reserve chairs like you do at other resorts.
The Casino is small with table games starting at 7pm. Be advised to skip the over-priced and pushy flea market nearby.
